Briggs was named the top recipient for the SPJ Region 12 Sports Columnist Award in 2009. He has also been known to write freelance for the Benton Courier and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Having known him personally, I can tell you that he is probably the biggest St. Louis Cardinals fan in the world. I have rarely seen him outside of a Cardinals shirt.
